Councillor McCann Meeting Report (April 17, 2018)
Parry Sound Public Library Travelogue (Jim & Kim Marshall in Africa)
On Wednesday evening, April 11th, my wife and I attended a Travelogue presentation by Jim and Kim Marshall in support of the Parry Sound Public Library. The event was held in the library auditorium. Their trip to Africa was well documented with photos and conversation. We definitely learned some interesting facts and information. Well done!Parry Sound Area Industrial Park Board Monthly Meeting
On Thursday, April 12th, with Councillors Borneman and Keith I attended the Parry Sound Area Industrial Park Board Monthly Meeting. The agenda was light. We accepted financial statements for the month ending, March 31st. We continue to explore broadband for the park, however solutions are scarce, if any. Ideally, at some point fibre optic service is what we want, however for the time being, tenants in the park seem to have their own service providers. The board knows that future progress will demand a park wide fibre optic delivery system. The day-to-day operations of the park run fairly smoothly and the board has agreed that we will meet on a by-monthly basis indefinitely. A new board following the municipal election may decide on another course if deemed necessary.Spaghetti Dinner And Concert Fund Raiser (McKellar)
On Saturday evening, April 14th, we attended a special fund raiser in McKellar in support of the McKellar Historical Committee. The occasion was a Spaghetti Dinner and Concert. The food was great, and the entertainment was provided by Men of the Sound and Harbour. There was also a silent auction. Organizers were overwhelmed by the turnout, considerably many more than expected. The fund raiser was enjoyable and a success. It was nice to run into people from other municipalities in the area.
