Admission was free but donations to the library were greatly appreciated. Thank you to Jim and Kim for their work and we look forward to learning about another travel venue next year... but no pressure!!
Special Town of Parry Sound Council Meeting (Budget 2019)
On Tuesday, April 9, 2019 I attended a Special Town of Parry Sound Council Meeting in which we discussed the Town's 2019 budget.
Belvedere Heights Board of Management Special Meeting
On Friday, April 12th, I attended a special Belvedere Heights Board of Management Meeting regarding the legislation of Bill 74. Bill 74 introduced by the Ontario Government has become known as "The People's Health Care Act", 2019, and is strongly urging all local health care providers funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care to explore local integration possibilities, thereby forming health teams.Congratulations to Vince & Anita Chechock
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Vince & Anita Chechock on being selected as this year's recipients of the Debwewin Citation for excellence in First Nations storytelling. The Chechock's will be presented with this award at the Anishinabek Nation 7th Generation Charity's Anishinabek Evening of Excellence in August.
On a second note, I would also like to congratulate Vince & Anita on their retirement. As you may know, ReZ 91.3 FM, The Voice of the Anishinabek Nation, signed off the air for the final time on Sunday, April 7, 2019 just prior to midnight. In July of 2002 Vince and Anita started this community radio station and was soon given a big boost through sponsorship from Central Ontario Broadcasting (Rock 95) in Barrie. The ReZ certainly played a big role in the lives of the Anishinaabe people, but the station was also well listened to throughout the Parry Sound Area. The station will be missed. Thank you Vince and Anita for your great contribution to the entire area. Thank you as well for your dedication and for your support. You truly have been successful in making the ReZ a community station. Best wishes in all your future endeavours!
