Councillor McCann Meeting Report (November 19, 2019)

Parry Sound Public Library Monthly Board Meeting
This morning, November 19, 2019, I attended the Parry Sound Public Library Monthly Board Meeting. We actually had two regular meetings making up for a lost meeting in October of this year.  Meeting 'A' covered approval of the September 17, 2019 board meeting, Treasurer's Report, tentative future dates for Pay Equity discovery, upcoming fright films for October, a pumpkin decorating event and there was more planing for sessions in which we will review our Policy Manual.  Meeting 'B' involved discussion about plans to celebrate the Parry Sound Public Library's 135th Anniversary in May.  More discussion surrounding strategic planning. financial reports, correspondence, a Pay Equity update and the Handbags for Hope event between November 5th and December 14th and other upcoming events.

Belvedere Heights Human Resources Committee Meeting
This afternoon, November 19, 2019, I attended a special meeting of the Belvedere Heights Human Resources Committee.  I would also take this opportunity to remind area municipality Heads of Council, Councillors and staff about the Belvedere Heights Municipal Stakeholder Meeting this Thursday evening, November 21, 2019 at 7:00.  There will be a discussion on the finds and recommendations arising from the recent core business review done by Assured Care.  Assured Care's President has been invited to make the presentation.  The meeting takes place in the Fireside Lounge.

The Museum on Tower Hill is hosting a special event providing our annual pass-holders, stakeholders and supporters an opportunity to get an advance look at the model of the newly installed Ottawa, Arnprior and Parry Sound Railway.  The model's creator, Graham MacDonald, will be on hand to talk about the idea and conception of the project, its original construction, its relocation to the Museum and about the research behind this wonderful project.  It has been some 17 years in the making.  Also on display will be the Museum's new display cases, which were proudly funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Christmas 2019 display and stock.  The event will be held November 22, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Norm Miller, Parry Sound MPP will be in attendance to speak about the Trillium grant.
