West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting
On Thursday evening, June 24, 2021 I attended the West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting via ZOOM.  The Manager's Report was received.  Financial Reports were also accepted.  We will be taking a first step in creating an emergency response team as we participate in an eight month pilot program offered by CCI that will help ten museums across Ontario develop their emergency plan. There was further discussion on how we might solicit building and maintenance advice from the public works departments in each member municipality.  We embarked on a 2031 Strategic Vision.  Progress has been slow but steady in the Permanent Gallery of the E. Roy Smith Gallery.  The ceiling has been patched and repainted.  The Lexan has been installed for safe viewing of the model train.  Staff is working on interpretive materials and coordinating with Graham, the model's creator, to get the train running.  The Cottage Life exhibit will be given new life with a single interpretive panel and push buttons that will allow visitors to hear interview clips about cottage life in Parry Sound.  The Trapper's Cabin requires some finishing work and will need framing to accommodate glass barriers to protect the exhibit.  The Fresnel Lens base design has been submitted to Kropf Industries for construction.  A First Nations committee will be created and there has been communication with Science North in Sudbury about the possibility of installing a satellite edition of their Nature Exchange in the Permanent Gallery.  We have a summer student who will be working on a part-time, casual basis until the Museum re-opens.  He is creating 10 YouTube videos that will promote our "Connecting Me to You" project.  The West Parry Sound District Museum is committed to ongoing research to further the aims of the Museum as outlined in its Statement of Purpose. This commitment extends to both staff of the Museum, as well as outside researchers.  Our Research Policy's mission is to collect, preserve and share the history of the West Parry Sound District.

Belvedere Heights Board of Management Special Meeting
On Tuesday afternoon, June 29, 2021, with Councillor Borneman I attended a Special Meeting of the Belvedere Heights Board of Management via ZOOM. The purpose of this special meeting was to finalize the paperwork that is to be sent to all area municipalities regarding moving ahead with a Campus of Care model.  This includes a draft resolution for each municipal council which is a by-law to return management of 101 long term care beds to the Ministry of Long Term Care to be relocated into a Campus of Care at the West Parry Sound Health Centre Site.  Belvedere would be recreated within this model under a new not-for-profit long-term care license.  Also included is a copy of the proposed press release regarding the next steps being taken in a joint project to plan for the future of long term care. Third, there is a message to be sent to the West Parry Sound Board of Management (Belvedere Heights) member Municipalities from our Board Chair, Lynne Gregory, with additional information and explanation.
