Councillor McCann Meeting Report (January 18, 2022)

Belvedere Heights Board of Management Special Board Meeting
On Monday afternoon at 1:00, January 6, 2022, along with Councillor Borneman, I attended a Special  Belvedere Heights Board of Management Board Meeting via ZOOM.
Discussions centred on property, life lease, zoning, succession and senior housing in light of a future Campus of Care model.






Parry Sound Public Library Board Meeting
On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, along with Councillor Backman, I attended the Parry Sound Public Library Board Meeting held electronically.  This was a special meeting in which we discussed a succession plan in managing the library building and our assets.




West Parry Sound District Community Support Services
On behalf of the West Parry Sound District Community Support Services, thank you to all who contributed to the "Be A Santa To A Senior" program this year.   Donations are tax deductible.





The Order of Parry Sound 2021

Congratulations to Jason Predie on being honoured with the The Order of Parry Sound for 2021!  The Order of Parry Sound is the town’s highest honour and is awarded to a deserving member of the community who has enriched the lives of people living and visiting Parry Sound.  The motto of the Order is “They desire a better community.”  Jason has been recognized for his work with the Parry Sound District EMS and as a volunteer firefighter with the Parry Sound Fire Department.


Happy New Year
As this is our first Council Meeting in the new year, I would take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy, healthy New Year.  In these unprecedented times in the midst of the worldwide pandemic and news of third and fourth waves, and I know it is easier said than done, but I hope you will join me in harbouring faith and hope that things will indeed get better.  I used the word, unprecedented and maybe that is not fair, because it takes away from the impact of hardships, sacrifices and tragedy from world events in the past such as World Wars and those that followed, not to mention what the World Health Organization lists as 20 previous global pandemic and epidemic diseases, ranging from asymptomatic to lethal, with viruses and bacteria transmitted from animals and insects to humans.  Be safe!  Stay well and again best wishes for 2022!
