Festival of the Sound Canada Day Musical Cruise On Board the Island Queen
On Friday evening, Canada Day, July 1, 2022, my wife and I enjoyed the Festival of the Sound Musical Cruise on board the Island Queen, a 30+ year tradition for the festival.  After over two years of the pandemic it was wonderful to see people, local and visitors, relaxed and really enjoying themselves and each other.  The weather was pristine!  It was topped off with the Canada Day Fireworks on Parry Sound's waterfront.

Grand Opening of New & Extended Breakwater Dock and New Dock C at Big Sound Marina
On Saturday afternoon, July 2, 2022 I attended the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies of the New and Extended Breakwater and Dock at Big Sound Marina.  Manager of Operations at the Big Sound Marina and Town Dock, George Stivrins made a welcoming speech presentation, thanking Parry Sound Town Staff, Mayor and Council, Small Craft Harbours, Kropf Industrial, Schlager Construction, Lynx Electrical, Plumbit Plumbing Contractors and the boat owners and families who make use of the Big Sound Marina facilities for making this possible.  This addition and enhancement has been described as making this facility functional and fully accessible.  This project also included the replacement of Dock C.  The breakwater also acts as an extended walking trail into Parry Sound Harbour.  Mayor McGarvey then spoke and cut the ribbon.  The town can now offer more dockage which converts to additional revenue.

West Parry Sound Community Support Services Fund Raising
I would like to take this opportunity to remind people that the West Parry Sound Community Support Services Fund Raising Campaign which involves the collection of redeemable alcoholic container continues with depots at Sobeys on Pine Drive and at the McFarlane Street Transfer Station.  Funds go towards meals on wheels, transportation services, friendly visiting and a number of beneficial services to our senior population in the West District.  Collectibles include beer cans, bottles, wine bottles, liquor bottles - both glass and plastic, wine box bladders and tetra cartons.  Thank you in advance for your continued support.
