Councillor McCann Meeting Report (November 3, 2015)

On October 28th, I attended my first board meeting at Belvedere Heights Long Term Care, and was warmly welcomed.  I am looking forward to my work and representation on this board.  Preceding this was an Orientation of Belvedere Heights Long Term, also Community Support Services and Belview by the Bay Residences on October 22nd.  Thank you to Donna Dellio, CEO, and John Cochran, Board Chair for their time!

Earlier today, I took part in a Mock Council Meeting with students from St. Peter's School.  I had a great time.  As one of the parent volunteers stated, this is something that the kids will remember for a long time.  The hands-on approach is a great way of engaging these young students and making it fun.  Anyone of them could be a future Mayor or Councillor.  Congratulations to all the students and special thanks to Ann Hurdman, and Councillor Keith, teacher - Tammi Turgeon.  The students also got to see the inside workings of water treatment plant by Andrew Palmer and our Fire Hall by Thomas McGowan and Gayle Warrilow.

Mayor, Councillors and Staff were on hand to make the Mock Council Meeting more realistic.  With a little prodding from Councillors, Peter Brown got to talk money and costs, while Trevor Pinn told us where he buys his toys and ties!!
