Councillor McCann Meeting Report (February 2, 2021)

Belvedere Heights Board of Management Special Meeting & Monthly Meeting
On Wednesday morning, January 27, 2021, with Councillor Borneman I attended two meetings held by the Belvedere Heights Board of Management via ZOOM!
The first meeting at 9:00AM was a special meeting in which nominations and voting took place to establish executive and committee heads.  Then at 9:30 we held our Regular Board Of Management Monthly Meeting.  On the agenda we received Financial Reports, Life Lease and Community Support Services Reports and we reviewed the Belvedere Heights Constitution & By-Laws.

West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Meeting
On Thursday evening, January 28, 2021, at 7:00, I attended the West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Meeting via ZOOM.  It was a full evening.  We received the Business Manager's Report and the Treasurer's Report.  Thanks to a December fund raiser, we ended that month in the black with our cash flow.  The Fund Raising Committee is starting a business membership drive.  These memberships will include perks, benefits, and will be renewable on an annual basis.  Our Corporate Development Committee has identified a set of objectives setting up a docent program for an active volunteer program and a more engaged visitor experience.  Staff has also been active in developing an online presence via YouTube and will be starting to work with an oral history.  There was approval of our mission statement which reads, "Our mission is to collect, preserve and share the history of the West Parry Sound District".  We approved our 2021 budget.  Our meeting also dealt with the reviewing of policies and it was brought up that we will need to reform an emergency committee.  We should be looking at a fire drill some time this year.  A pandemic amendment or policy will be added to our Health and Safety Policy.  We had approval of our proposed COVID procedures.  A part-time bookkeeper has been contracted.  Two other objectives of the museum are to establish a Heritage YouTube Channel and the eventual re-opening of the E Roy Smith Gallery in due time, which of course houses the model train display.

Parry Sound Public Library Monthly Board Meeting
This morning with Councillor Backman I attended the Parry Sound Public Library Monthly Board Meeting...via ZOOM.  The Parry Sound Public Library COVID-19 Safety Plan for 2021 has now been reviewed and posted.  It is on the library’s website, https://www.parrysoundlibrary.com/, and is available at the library for those interested.  The library is planning to move ahead with a new Technology Centre to be named after C.N. Corporate Services in recognition of the $10,000 corporate donation made recently.  We have proposed and accepted a new 2021 Parry Sound Public Library Board Meeting schedule which will have the board meeting on a Wednesday once a month.  We reviewed proposals for 3 new furnaces for the Parry Sound Public Library.  There is a huge cost mainly due to the installation on the roof.  The Treasurer's Reports for November and December of 2020 were approved.  The Parry Sound Public Library E-Blast Newsletter Update now has well over 700 recipients.
