The Parry Sound Area Industrial Park Board Meeting
With Councillors Borneman and Keith, I attended the Parry Sound Area Industrial Park Board Meeting on June 9th.  The Ritchie Court site is now officially certified through the Site Certification program.  We also were presented with audited financial statements for the year ended,  December 31, 2015.  A representative from KPMG in Sudbury was on hand to review the statements and notes with the board.

Medical Arts Building
On Tuesday June 19th, I had the occasion to be in the new Medical Arts Building on Bowes Street.  Congratulations to Distler Construction on the completion of this fine, modern facility, and congratulations to the new tenants of the building as well.

REDAC Meeting
I was pleased to attend as a guest, the REDAC Meeting, on June 15th hosted this time around by Parry Sound, at the Stockey Centre.  The Regional Business Marketing Plan and the Tourism Summit Report were each presented.  There is a follow up to this on tonight`s agenda.

Belvedere Heights Monthly Board Meeting
This morning, June 21, 2016, I attended the Belvedere Heights monthly board meeting.  It was a fairly light meeting in which we accepted the audited financial Statement of the District of Parry Sound (West) Belvedere Heights Home for the Aged, Community Support Services, for the year ended, March 31, 2016.

Unveiling of the Francis Pegahmagabow Bronze Statue
Then it was down the hill to the Unveiling of the Francis Pegahmagabow bronze statue on this National Aboriginal Day.  In attendance was a number of dignitaries.  It was a very special, unique honour to be there - a wonderful ceremony, well attended.
The most highly decorated Aboriginal person in Canada during the First World War, Pegahmagabow became a vocal advocate for Indigenous rights and self-determination.  This was truly a wonderful, fitting tribute to Francis and his family and a privilege for us to have this statue on display overlooking Georgian Bay for generations to come!
