Councillor McCann Meeting Report (March 15, 2016)

Town of Parry Sound Budge Meeting
I was in attendance at the Budget Meeting, on Wednesday, March 2nd.

Park to Park Trail Association
Park to Park Trail AssociationDue to a conflict, I was not able to attend the Park to Park Trail Association quarterly meeting in Rosseau, March 3rd.  However I can bring you up to date on some of the highlights...  The Municipality of Carling was represented that evening including Sid Larson who has taken over for Gord Harrisson.  The township is very interested in working with the Association in establishing a trail system directly to Killbear Provincial Park.  This connection is considered to be paramount for increased usage from the park and as such a favourable impact on our tourism industry.

Also, the "Ride for Prostate Cancer" will be coming up later this spring!

Parry Sound Area Industrial Park Board Monthly Meeting
Thursday, March 10th, along with Councillors Borneman and Keith, I attended the Parry Sound Area Industrial Park Board Monthly Meeting.
We accepted financial statements for January of 2016 and adopted our budget for the year, 2016.  We are still waiting for final site certification on the Ritchie property.  As reported previously, we now have certification on the Crawford site.

There was much to do about water and waste water management.

We received a report, prepared by the Municipality of McDougall Environmental Services Supervisor for the period of January through to December of 2015.  We have a stand alone Water Treatment Plant and Distribution system, regulated by the province, Regulation 319/08 Small Drinking Water Systems.  There was one incident due to a significant water main break on October 8th, and all contingencies were followed.

The Parry Sound and Area Industrial Park Wastewater Treatment Lagoons 2015 Performance Report was also accepted.  There was compliance with discharge requirements and objectives.  We continued to maintain and operate the lagoons effectively.  They have proven to work very well for the Park and continue to be a source of revenue.
