Town of Parry Sound Budget Council Meeting
On Wednesday, March 18, 2020 I attended the Town of Parry Sound Special Budget Meeting in which, in addition to other business, the 2020 Operating and Capital Budgets were put forward.

West Parry Sound Health Centre COVID-19 Response Briefing
On the afternoon of Thursday, March 19, 2020, a participated in a ZOOM conference hosted by the West Parry Sound Health Centre and in partnership with our Director of Emergency & Protective Services & Fire Chief Dave Thompson.  The purpose of this event was to update the Health Centre's Municipal Partners and Boards of Directors on its COVID-19 Preparedness and Response.  I take this opportunity to acknowledge the great work and organization by the health centre management and staff in doing everything possible to mitigate the effects of COVID-19.  Thank you to the centre and its people for doing such a courageous job at this time.  I myself have heard praise and several compliments on the centre's action plan.

West Parry Sound District Museum
On Friday, March 27, 2020 I participated in a special meeting of the Board of the West Parry Sound District Museum.  It was a full electronic meeting via ZOOM.  The meeting was necessary to make urgent decisions following up on water damage sustained as a result of a burst pipe.  Very, very fortunately, no artifacts were damaged.  Much remedial work is underway for certain portions of the building including the kitchen, washrooms and the Lions Room, hallways, and light fixtures.  Of course the Museum remains closed due to the COVID-19 matter, but the Museum will be working on pumping up its online presence.  We have a board meeting scheduled for this Thursday evening, April 9, 2020, again via ZOOM.

Belvedere Heights Board of Management Monthly Meeting
The Regular Belvedere Heights Board of Management Monthly Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, 2020 was cancelled because of COVID-19. We are arranging an electronic meeting tentatively for Wednesday, April 22, 2020.  I would also add that Community Support Services transportation has been fairly well shut down.  The Meals on Wheels service continues to operate.  To staff and front-line workers at Belvedere and the volunteer Meals on Wheels drivers, I know that I can speak for the Board in extending a great deal of appreciation for all your work and efforts at this difficult time.

Friends of Belvedere Bottle & Can Collection
On behalf of the Friends of Belvedere I want to thank the public for its ongoing support of our bottle and can collection.  Just a note that some of our receptacles throughout the area are becoming overfilled as we are not able to collect and return them at this time due to the COVID-19 matter.  If you can possibly hold on to your empties for now, this would be very helpful.  This will help control the overflow situations at some depots.  When this crises is over, I want you to know that we will do what we can to collect.  If over the time things pile up at your home, I would also welcome your call for pickup at your residence.  Thank you in the meantime for all your support.  Please continue to drop off your soft drink cans in our huge container at Sobeys, on Pine Drive, Parry Sound.
