Councillor McCann Meeting Report (February 4, 2020)

Belvedere Heights Board of Management Monthly Meeting
On Wednesday morning, January 22, 2010, I attended the Belvedere Heights Board of Management Monthly Meeting.  Housekeeping duties including acceptance of financial reports, committee reports, moving forward with a long-term care (LTC) new bed application, a consulting agreement with the West Parry Sound Health Centre (WPSHC) regarding our administrator contract.  Belvedere Heights is collaborating with Lakeland LTC to recruit and train (in house) 20 personal support workers (PSW’s) with return for service agreements.  Costs for this are subsidized through the use of the Ontario Job Grant Program.  Linda Taylor, Director of West Parry Sound Community Support Services brought us up to date on its activity, including transporation, meal delivery, diner’s club and friendly visiting.
West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting
On Thursday evening, January 23, 2020, I attended the West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting.  We received the Business Manager’s Report, an update on donations in 2019 in the way of 60 artifacts including photographs, objects and archival material.  Our website is getting a new look, and we had considerable discussion regarding our HVAC system, a spring and fall maintenance plan and particularly the purchase of a ground pump for stand-by.  Without such a stand-by, the museum could sit for up to four weeks with no A/C or heating while waiting for the arrival of a new pump.  We will be budgeting for this.  We also discussed some construction costs for the model railroad set.
