Parry Sound Public Library Board Meeting
On Wednesday morning, June 12, 2024 I attended the Parry Sound Public Library Board Meeting. The highlight of the meeting was receiving and approving the 2023 Library Audit with BDO. Financial reports for the month of April were reviewed and accepted. The summer programming line-up is being finalized. Festival of the Sound will be partnering with the library again this year for “Chamber Kids”. The library will be hosting the TD Summer Reading Club, also a weekly Lego Club, Tech Days and other programs. Waterfront Advisory Committee Meeting
On Monday, June 17, 2024 I attended the Waterfront Advisory Committee Meeting held in Council Chambers. First off, was a deputation made by Jenna Neilson. She presented her thesis project completed for her post secondary education at Laurentian University, “Parry Sound Waterfront Plan”. It was more than just the waterfront as she presented her vision for the entire town. It was extremely detailed and creative and I suspect may lend some ideas to the completion of our Official Plan. More discussion on the state of the Town Dock and accommodation for cruise ships and on surveying the public for their vision regarding the waterfront. We also talked at length about the Waubuno Street bridge matter. Before Council this evening is a motion from the Waterfront Advisory Committee requesting this matter be deferred allowing for public consultation.
West Parry Sound District Museum Annual General Meeting and Waubuno Exhibition Opening
A reminder that the West Parry Sound District Museum Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at the Museum this Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 6:00 in the evening. The public is invited to attend the annual meeting and learn more about the Museum, its operation and all it has to offer the West District. The AGM will be followed by the official opening of The Waubuno Exhibition.
