100th Birthday Celebration for Rowena Casement
On Thursday afternoon, March 22nd, I had the honour of representing the Town of Parry Sound at a birthday celebration for Rowena Casement who turned 100 years young on that same day.   Many friends and family, some traveling for up to 10 hours were in attendance for this special gathering in Rowena's honour at Belvedere Heights.  Rowena is the mother of Millie Graham, and husband Doug.  We wish her much health and happiness.

Belvedere Heights Strategic Planning Meeting
On Tuesday, March 27th, I attended a special Belvedere Heights Strategic Planning Meeting at which a presentation was made by People Minded Business bringing the board up to date with a progress report.  The board and management are enthusiastic about this group's work and we are looking forward to a completed plan in a few months.

Belvedere Heights Monthly Board of Management Meeting
Then on Wednesday, March 28th, I attended the Belvedere Heights Monthly Board of Management Meeting.  Monthly financials were accepted.  Our Annual Financial Audit is coming forward.  Auditors from KPMG were on site in March to complete some field work and will be returning in May to complete audit field work for Community Support Services.  We had a Routine Food Safety Inspection by the Health Unit.  All is good.

There was discussion about public transparency.  The Ministry of Health and Long Term care has announced some legislative updates.  The Health Sector Payment Transparency Act is coming January 1st and it is anticipated that the Ministry will be posting information about long term care (LTC) homes' performance on its public reporting site at any time now.  Reporting will include assigning a level of performance of 1 to 4 with one being the best.  Community Support Services is getting some funding from North East LHIN to purchase a new stove in support of the Meals on Wheels program.

Park to Park Trail Association Board Meeting
Then on Wednesday evening, March 28th, I attended the Park to Park Trail Association Board Meeting here in Parry Sound at the Bobby Orr Community Centre.  This organization as well will become engaged in Strategic Planning this year.  The 2018 ATV "Do it For Dads" rally is set for the weekend of June 16th.  We are also hoping to plan a fall ATV event this year.  Financial reports were received.

Canadian Snowbirds Air Show Ad-Hoc Committee Meeting
Today, April 3rd, I attended another meeting of the Canadian Snowbirds Air Show Ad-Hoc Committee.  With June 13th being the show date we are getting closer.  There is a great deal of logistics to work out and everyone has been so helpful.  The list includes Public works, EMS, the Coast Guard, OPP, Town staff, the Airport, Seguin Township and the Parry Sound Cadets.  Sponsorship packages are coming along fine and the committee is working to ensure that as many people in the area, will have a chance to enjoy the event, making it a lasting memory to be treasured by residents and visitors alike.
