Councillor McCann Meeting Report (September 18, 2018)

Park to Park Trail Association Quarterly Board Meeting
On Thursday evening, September 6th, I attended the Quarterly Board of Directors Meeting of the Park to Park Trail Association.  This time around it was in Rosseau.
There was a review of the "Do It For Dads" ATV Rally held in June.  We continue to benefit from our Trail Ambassador Program with just over 20 volunteers.  There was a great deal of discussion over trail maintenance issues including bridge repair and replacement.  We discussed the importance of clarification of whether Park to Park and/or the MNR should be responsible for various maintenance issues.  Our trail pass sails are up $11,000 this year, taking into consideration sales from Family to Season, Weekly, two- and one-day pass sales.  It’s interesting to note that just under half our trail pass sales have been processed online through our website at www.parktopark.org.  We are also reviewing "Trail Rolls and Responsibilities" which would define who handles the various issues of trail monitoring, maintenance and other items of importance.

Condolences Extended to Family of Doris Brown
I would like to extend heartfelt condolences to the family of Doris Brown, who passed away on Sunday, September 16th.  She was very heavily involved with education.  I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Doris during work on the Victory School Commemorative Project.  I did an interview with her which is included in Parry Sound Victory School Commemorative DVD set.  The DVD's can be borrowed from the Parry Sound Public Library.  You can also view excerpts of this interview online here at www.parrysoundvictoryschool.com/index.php/video-interview-excerpts/doris-brown.  She had a great deal of passion for her work.  She was honoured for her work as a long term volunteer by the Festival of the Sound in the spring of last year, 2017.  She will be missed very much by so many.  The family will be receiving friends at Logan's Funeral Home this Friday (September 21, 2018) evening from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. and then on Saturday, the service in "Celebration of Her Life" will take place at Trinity Anglican Church, 11:00 A.M., Parry Sound.
