Northern Policy Institute (NPI) Parry Sound Visit
On Wednesday afternoon, April 18th, I attended the Northern Policy Institute workshop at the Bobby Orr Community Centre to provide my thoughts on how Parry Sound can affect or be effected by provincial policies. The NPI visits two northern communities annually to hear from community leaders and stake holders. I talked about the benefits and the challenges we have.
Belvedere Heights Board of Management Monthly Meeting
On Wednesday, April 25th, I attended the Belvedere Heights Board of Management Monthly Meeting. More on strategic planning. Belvedere has been working with People Minded Business. We reviewed a Belvedere Heights pre-strategic planning document. The board reviewed legislative updates particularly concerning Publication of Performance Levels. The performance levels of long-term care homes are now posted on the ministry’s public website. Auditors from KPMG were on site, April 30th to complete audit filed work for Community Support Services. KPMG will be reporting to the Belvedere Heights Board at the next monthly meeting.
District of Parry Sound Municipal Association
On Friday, April 27th, with Mayor McGarvey and Councillor Marshall, I attended the District of Parry Sound Municipal Association Spring Meeting. It was hosted by the Municipality of Powassan. On the day's schedule:

West Parry Sound Health Centre Municipal Meeting
Monday evening, April 30, 2018 I attended the West Parry Sound Health Centre Municipal Meeting at the Health Centre. Municipal representatives were brought up to date on matters pertaining to the Health Centre, Electronic Health Records project, the LHIN and support from the area municipalities.
Canadian Forces Snowbirds Air Show Ad-Hoc Committee Meeting
On Monday, April 7th I attended the Canadian Forces Snowbirds Air Show Ad-Hoc Committee Meeting, along with Councillor Borneman and staff, Rob Mens and Ann Hurdman. Everything is moving along smoothly. The show is coming together very well and is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon on June 13th between 5:00 and 6:00.
Park to Park Trail Association Board Meeting
A Park to Park Trail Association Board Meeting was held on Thursday evening, May 10th, in Orrville, however I was not able to attend. However I would like to pass along news about an important annual event, the "Do It For Dads" ATV Ride of Hope, on Saturday, June 16th, on the weekend of Father's Day. The public is invited to join the Park to Park Trail Association and the Prostate Extreme Team, for this event, sponsored by CF Moto. Three great organizations come together for a great cause and event. The day starts out with an 8:00 AM registration at the Parry Sound Super 8 (on Hwy 400, exit 217) and then hit the trail at 9:00, for a ride to Sprucedale. There you can enjoy a BBQ trail lunch. Then ride back to the Seguin Valley Golf Club for a fabulous buffet dinner, lots of prizes and a silent auction. Registration is $110.00 per person and includes lunch and dinner. Early Bird registration before May 13th is $95.00 per person or $85.00 for Park to Park season trail pass holders. Cascade Street Generating Station Grand Opening Ceremony
On Friday morning, May 11th, with Mayor McGarvey and Councillors Marshall and Keith, I attended the Cascade Street Generating Station Grand Opening Ceremony. Everyone involved with this project and operation are to be well congratulated on their commitment, dedication and vision! It is a spectacular, modern plant we hope will service generations to come for the next 100 years and more!
Belvedere Heights Strategic Planning Meeting
Finally, this morning, May 15th, I attended the Belvedere Heights Strategic Planning Meeting. We have been working with the firm, People Minded Business. On the agenda today; drill down into the strategic directions, focus on questions of how these directions may be operationalized and the first 180 days.
