Town of Parry Sound Council 2022 Operating Budget Meeting
On Tuesday evening, February 15, 2022, I participated in the Town of Parry Sound Council Special Meeting dealing with the 2022 Operating Budget.  I feel that we came to agreement on a responsible budget for this year coming in at a 2.56% increase.  A great deal of thanks and recognition belongs to Town Staff and our Finance Director, Stephanie Phillips.

Belvedere Heights Board of Management Monthly Meeting
On Wednesday morning, February 23, 2022, with Councillor Borneman, I attended the Belvedere Heights Board of Management Monthly Meeting via ZOOM.  Kami Johnson gave us a report on interaction and inclusion with our residents as part of the “Voice of the Resident”.  We were provided with an update on our management contract with the West Parry Sound Health Centre.  A report on the activities of Community Support Services was heard.  We received financial reports from the Finance Committee Meetings held January 24 and February 22, 2022.  We are still waiting on word from the province as to who will be appointed as our second Provincial Representative on our Board.  It is expected very soon.  There was good news from the province in that we received a total of $272,100 for COVID Prevention and Containment!  This funding is in addition to the previously announced Prevention and Containment allocation of $75,600 that Belvedere Heights has already received for January - March 2022.

West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting
On Thursday evening, February 25, 2022, I attended the West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting via ZOOM.  There was a review and discussion centred on the Museum's Strat Plan with a vision extending beyond 2030.  The Finance Reports and Manager’s Report were received.  Each meeting the Board tries to review one of its policies and at our last meeting we discussed the Key Holder’s Policy which goes to proper and efficient security management.

West Parry Sound Community Support Services Transportation Services
The West Parry Sound Community Support Services offers a number of programs for the senior population at large.  One very important program is Transportation.  It is currently in need of volunteer drivers.  If you are retired or semi-retired, this could be perfect for you to get out of the house, meet people and help out with a most vital need in the area.  You must have a clean driving record.  You can contact CSS by calling (705) 746-5602, or you can visit their website at ParrySoundSupportServices.ca.  It must be stressed that this is not a taxi service.  Those in need of services must apply and go through an in-take process and due to limitations, a two-week advance request is most appreciated.  As these services are for getting those in need to medical and other vital appointments, it is hoped most of these pre-arranged appointments should give CSS and the rider enough time to make arrangements and best serve as many as possible.
