Parry Sound Development Charges Open Meeting
Tuesday morning, April 11, 2023, with Councillor Paul Bornamen and Senior Staff, I attended a meeting on Town Development Charges.  A number of stake holders were in attendance. I felt the meeting was productive and very worthwhile.  There was good dialogue as well as openness.  Stake holders seem to all be on the same page agreeing that development must pay for development.  I also believe that the Town and the stakeholders all agree that we must find common ground if we are going to remain competitive and attract new growth and development.


Parry Sound Public Library
On Wednesday morning, April 12, 2023, I attended the Parry Sound Public Library Monthly Board Meeting in person at the library. We had an update on the NOHFC Grant to go towards our HVAC system. We received our Treasurer’s Report for the month of March, 2023, the CEO Report and the 2023 1st Quarter Statistics.  We reviewed upcoming library programs.



Provincial Funding Announcement to Enhance Long-term Care
Friday morning, April 14, 2023 on the front deck of Belvedere Heights Long-Term Care, I had the pleasure of being on hand as our MPP Graydon Smith announced funding in the amount of $66,861.76 to go to Belvedere Heights Long-Term Care and Lakeland Long Term Care.  The funding was distributed to enhance long-term care at each facility. 
According to Smith, both homes will use the money to buy bariatric equipment and expand support services in hopes it reduces the number of avoidable emergency department visits. Belvedere Administrator Kami Johnson announced that the funding will allow them to continue to prioritize care for the residents and help staff support residents experiencing certain circumstances requiring specialized care ensuring they are able to continue celebrating life in the safety and security of their own home.
