West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting
On Thursday evening, I attended the West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting via Zoom at 7:00.  We received and approved Financial Reports. March break activities were a success and more events are planned.  The Fire Fighting Exhibition, "Fighting Fires: Our Volunteer Firefighters" is now open.  The grand opening of the exhibit was a success.  Although he couldn't make the official opening, our MPP Graydon Smith made a point of visiting the exhibit soon after.  The exhibit explores the development of the local volunteer fire departments in the West Parry Sound District and includes contributions from the following active departments, Parry Sound Fire Department, McDougall Fire Department, Wasauksing Fire Department, Shawanaga First Nation Fire Department, Carling Fire Department, Seguin Township Fire Department, McKellar Township Volunteer Fire Department and Whitestone Fire Department.  The Museum is creating a Wall of Honour featuring 11 x 17 posters of volunteer firefighters from the District. These posters will be displayed during the exhibition (January 22nd to December 20th, 2025).  Members of the public are invited to nominate a firefighter and can do so by submitting a nomination form to the West Parry Sound District Museum, along with a high-quality photograph (digital or physical copies will be accepted) and $30 to cover the poster's printing and design costs.  Please check out the Museum's website for details at https://www.museumontowerhill.com/volunteer-firefighting-exhibition.  Only individuals who have served within the West Parry Sound District may be nominated.

Condolences to the Langford and Mortson Families on the Passing of Doug Langford
I would like to take this opportunity to extend sincere sympathies to the Langford and Mortson families on the passing of Doug Langford, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.  Langford was the "L" in L & H Motors Ford Dealership which has been a landmark for several years in downtown Parry Sound. Condolences to the large extended families he leaves behind.  He was 91.

Condolences to the Family of Tom Morrison
Also on this day, March 25, 2025 Tom Morrison passed away.  Sincere condolences are extended to his family.  Tom was battling cancer. Many will remember Tom from his days at the A & P Store in the former Parry Sound Mall. Known for his unwavering love of family and his kindness, sense of humour and wisdom he will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends. He was in his 80th year.
