Condolences to Family of Vic Brunatti
I would like to take this opportunity to pass along sincere condolences to the family of Vic Brunatti who passed away at his home on September 18, 2025.  He was 86.  He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Judy, and a relationship that began as a high school romance.  He also is survived by his children Cory and Gina, and extended family members.  Born in Depot Harbour, Vic was the youngest of 8 siblings and I understand he is the last of the family who reined from Depot Harbour.  His obituary credits Vic with his prowess at baseball and basketball. He was also a very talented singer, trumpet player and drummer.  Vic was a man of great faith and he played many roles in connection with St. Peter's Church, including an instrumental part in establishing the local Council of the Knights of Columbus.  A Funeral Mass was held at St. Peter's this past Thursday, October 2, 2025 followed by a reception.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Parry Sound's Sully Burrows Country Music Career Picking Up Huge Momentum
You may recall I reported on March 4, 2025, that congratulations were in order to Parry Sound’s Sully Burrows after being chosen as one of eight semi-finalists in a Canadian competition to find the next big country star.  “The Top of the Country” competition is hosted by the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA®) and SiriusXM Canada.

Then on April 15, 2025 I reported that the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA®) and SiriusXM Canada announced three finalists.  Sully was included as one of the three!  All three earned exclusive mentorship opportunities and would perform at major live events across the country, culminating at Country Music Week 2025 just this last month, September, 2025 in Kelowna, British Columbia.  On September 11, 2025 the winner was announced and the award went to Noeline Hofmann.  This includes a cash award of $25,000, while Sully and the third finalist each took home $10,000.

The loss to first place has not slowed down Sully.  The Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAO) announced on September 15, 2025 that he was selected as "Artist of the Month".  The agency had already named him CMAO’s "Emerging Artist of the Year" during the 13th annual CMAO’s award presentation on June 1, 2025. Coming out in a few days is Sully's debut EP (extended play) featuring songs that delve into his life and heritage.  This includes the single "Somewhere in a Small Town" which was released as a single on July 25, 2025.  At the present time Sully Burrows is in Nashville performing and doing plenty of writing and related work!

Solitary Man: Tribute to Neil Diamond at the Stockey Centre
On Saturday evening, October 4, 2025, my wife and I attended Solitary Man - Tribute to Neil Diamond concert at the Stockey Centre.  Will Chalmers imitating Neil Diamond, is a multi award winning tribute artist.  He's been in the music industry for over 30 years.  He is also known for his tributes to Garth Brooks, Conway Twitty, John Lennon and Elvis.  It was an extraordinary performance and well attended.  One could close their eyes and easily believe it was really Mr. Diamond singing himself.  We certainly enjoyed the show and were well entertained.
