Councillor McCann Meeting Report (December 2, 2025)

West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting
On Thursday evening, November 27, 2025 I attended the West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting via Zoom.  Financial reports were received and approved for November, 2025.  We established meeting dates for the Board for 2026.  Anne Bossart made a presentation to the Board focusing on the endeavour of including the Tower Hill Gardens and Lookout Tower into the Museum's rebranding.  She suggested the idea of bringing the Museum into the Garden and the Garden into the Museum.  As an example of that the Museum is planning an exhibit about the Ranger Cabin in the E. Roy Room.  She talked about having an exhibit in the Garden as well.  The vision is to further enhance Tower Hill as a destination for residents and visitors.

The Board is in favour of Anne's suggestion and will explore means to incorporate this into our rebranding plan. The Board is asking the Town of Parry Sound for an additional $10,000 towards this endeavour.  It feels that this is something that will especially benefit the Town.  The first meeting coming up this month with the firm hired to work with the Museum, Hambly Woolley, will involve a first look at plans and ideas presented.

The Museum has hired Sound Fundraising Strategies to assist in developing a new Strategic Plan.  A survey has been drafted that will go out early this month to members, donors, stake holders, community members and to municipal offices.  An in-person, four-to-five hour workshop will be held at the end of January of 2026, tentatively set for Thursday, January 29, 2026.
