Councillor McCann Meeting Report (March 18, 2025)

Waterfront Advisory Committee Invites You to the Waterfront Master Plan Open House
On behalf of the Waterfront Advisory Committee I would take this opportunity to both remind and invite the public to attend the Waterfront Master Plan Open House, being held at the Charles W. Stockey Centre, tomorrow evening, Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 6:00 to 7:30.  Remember you can also review the plan online by going to the Town’s website or clicking https://www.parrysound.ca/business-development/waterfront-master-plan/.  At the open house you can join the discussion on key findings to date and provide your own input on the plan.  As stated on the Town's website, "Such a plan describes and illustrates the vision of the future of the waterfront, and sets out principles to guide decision making and investment."  You’ll note that the authors of this plan, Town Staff and Mayor and Council are committed to maintaining public access along our beautiful shoreline.  We are certainly in a growth mode and we want to get this right. Striking that balance of green space, public access and development happens with the people of Parry Sound and area.  You’ll recall the terrific turnout back in October when we kicked off the Waterfront Master Plan at the Stockey Centre.  I hope we’ll see a similar turnout tomorrow evening.

Condolences to the Robinson Family on the Passing of Joe Robinson, Former Fire Chief
Condolences to the Robinson family on the passing of Joseph, or Joe, as everyone new him, Robinson on March 7, 2025 at the age of 94 years. He leaves behind his wife of 71 years, Elvera, children, grandchildren and extended family.  Joe helped his father and brothers build cottages on the bay before he became involved with fire fighting.  His father became the Fire Chief in 1943 with Joe taking over in 1962 until his retirement in 1993.  He was also the building inspector for the Town of Parry Sound.  Very committed to family and community he will be missed.

Spring Has Sprung
Robins and cardinals have been seen and heard and they must know something official we don't, but it's not hard to guess, "Spring is Here!!"  Enjoy yourself out there as the temperatures rise and the snow melts away.  Happy Spring in the Lakeland Playland!
